See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
A comfortable and friendly pub in a rural setting, popular with walkers and horse riders (there is a watering point). Sold by Robinson's and reopened January 2018 by Richard Hirst, who is behind a new PubCo called Proper Good Pub Co. Ltd. 3 ales on hand pull. The Arden Best Bitter (Stockport Brewing's Crown Best Bitter rebadged) is complemented by 2 guest ales, also typically from Stockport Brewing. The comfortable interior is open plan with lots of dark wood, which gives a very rural feel. An indoor play area (Xbox etc.) is provided for children and there is also a substantial outdoor play area. Food is available daily except Tuesdays, with an ever changing menu of high quality pub grub, including steaks. Both ale & food are available to take away. BBQs are regularly held over the summer. Quiz Wednesdays, karaoke Saturdays. Apparently, the pub is haunted by a friendly ghost called Norman, who likes to hang out in the pool room. Disabled access is to the left via the outdoor smoking area.
